A strong national defense is our federal government’s most important responsibility.
p. In 1776 in our Declaration of Independence, America’s founding fathers “mutually pledge(d) to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.” So began America’s national defense.

In 1787, America’s Constitution made our national defense the foremost priority of our federal government. As a consequence, and for more than sixty years, America’s military prowess has been unmatched on the world stage.

I am proud of the Tennessee Valley’s rich heritage and support for national defense. For decades, my father (a World War II veteran) and thousands of others worked hard on Redstone Arsenal to ensure that America’s military was strong and innovative enough to protect America and freedom.

The Tennessee Valley, from Oak Ridge to Huntsville, has been instrumental in making America the first to develop new weapons systems. We have been the cornerstone for America’s research and development efforts that have empowered our servicemen with cutting edge technology.

America must maintain our research and development weaponry edge because history has shown us we cannot afford to be second.

Where would we be today if the World War II Axis Powers had developed the atomic bomb first?

Where would we be today if America’s Cold War enemies had been the first to develop stealth technologies and weapons guidance systems that have uncanny accuracy?

Where will we be tomorrow if the enemies of freedom are the first to develop the next generation of weaponry?

America is not immune from the lessons of history. We cannot afford to be second in anything that risks our national defense.

We must adequately fund all essential technologies for defense weaponry. We cannot afford to slash missile defense or any other critical defense program at a time of heightened risk from rogue nations and terrorists who would love nothing more than to boast about how they destroyed American cities or brought America to her knees.

In a time when federal government spending far exceeds anything in history, how it is possible that defense programs are being slashed and defense jobs lost? During the 2008 election campaign, then-candidate Parker Griffith promised voters that he would “ensure . . . that we fund our defense programs at the highest levels”.

Parker Griffith undermined his promise when he voted to empower Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Nancy Pelosi and her allies (Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, etc.) simply do not have national defense as America’s highest funding priority.

Now, America’s defense capabilities are under attack, not from without, but from within.

The House leadership puts America in jeopardy every time it takes money from needed defense programs and shifts it to vote-getting wealth-transfer programs that do nothing to defend America but do much to buy votes that help reelect Congressmen who put themselves above America’s security.

While the threatened deterioration of our military by Nancy Pelosi, Parker Griffith, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters and their allies is economically bad for the Tennessee Valley, it is deadly for America.

As your Congressman, I will fight to restore national defense to its proper prominence.

I will start by joining Congressmen from around the nation and vote to unseat Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, thus helping to make the U.S. House a bastion of support for America’s military so that the Tennessee Valley may continue to be a spearhead for America’s missile defense, aviation and numerous other research and development programs.

I urge all American citizens to do everything within their power to join our political revolution that must begin with the dethroning of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her allies.

Quite candidly, it makes no sense for the Tennessee Valley elect to Congress anyone who supports and empowers a Speaker of the House who so willingly risks our nation’s security in so many different ways.

Please join our fight. It is a fight we must win because it is a fight America simply cannot afford to lose.
